Pakistan’s Participation in Climbing World Cups
Pakistan’s participation in the Climbing World Cup represents an important part of the country’s developing sport climbing history.
For Pakistani climbers, competing at a World Cup means stepping onto the same international stage as some of the world’s best athletes in sport climbing. While Pakistan’s participation has remained limited compared with established climbing nations, every appearance has provided valuable international experience and helped put Pakistani sport climbing on the global competition calendar.

Pakistan made its Climbing World Cup debut in 2013, when Yasin Ali became the first Pakistani athlete to represent the country at a World Cup. He competed at the Baku Climbing World Cup in Azerbaijan, marking the beginning of Pakistan’s participation on the international World Cup circuit.

Not Just Participation
Pakistan’s World Cup appearances should also be viewed in the broader context of the development of sport climbing in the country. World Cup participation is about more than finishing positions.
For athletes from a developing climbing nation, reaching a World Cup represents an opportunity to compete against international athletes, experience different competition environments and understand the standards required at the highest level of the sport.
Unlike countries with large professional climbing systems and frequent World Cup participation, Pakistan has a comparatively small competitive climbing community. Opportunities to travel internationally, access standardized competition facilities and compete regularly against international athletes can be limited.
Despite these challenges, Pakistani climbers have continued to appear on the World Cup circuit.
Each participation adds to the country's international climbing record and creates a reference point for future athletes who may follow the same path.

Preserving Pakistan’s World Cup History
As sport climbing continues to develop in Pakistan, documenting international participation becomes increasingly important.
Competition results can become difficult to find years after an event, particularly for athletes from countries with smaller climbing communities. Keeping a record of Pakistani World Cup appearances allows future athletes, coaches, researchers and climbing fans to understand the history of the sport in the country.
Climb Pakistan aims to maintain this history by documenting every known Pakistani World Cup appearance, including the event, host country, discipline, athlete and result.
